About Ethernity Chain (ERN)
What Is Ethernity Chain (ERN)?
Ethernity Chain (ERN) is a decentralized platform for trading licensed authenticated NFTs (aNFTs). The platform focuses on sports and entertainment digital artwork and collections. With unlicensed use being a common problem in the world of NFTs, Ethernity Chain stands out as one of the few marketplaces that heed Intellectual Property (IP) protection for artists and NFT creators.
Ethernity Chain is an app based on the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain. It was launched in March 2021. Two months later, in May 2021, the platform added support for the Polygon (MATIC) sidechain to help its users conduct cheaper and faster transactions.
Besides being an IP-centered NFT marketplace, Ethernity is a platform with some decentralized finance (DeFi) features. Ethernity’s native token, ERN, is used extensively for a variety of liquidity provision services on the platform. The token is based on Ethereum’s ERC-20 standard.
Ethernity Chain (ERN) Price
The ERN token began trading in early March 2021 at slightly over $6. Within days of the token’s launch, an NFT from American digital artist Beeple sold for a record-breaking $69 million at Christie's auction house, igniting a market-wide NFT mania. Buoyed by the spurt in popularity of the concept of NFTs, ERN shot up to an all-time high of $73.86 near the end of its first month on the market.
That initial spike, however, proved unsustainable, and two months later, in late May 2021, ERN was already down to about $5. The token did manage to post another substantive price spike, to over $22 by late August 2021. Then it set out on a prolonged downtrend, dropping to single-digit figures in December 2021, and continuing to decline into 2022.
Since mid-2022, ERN’s price has stabilized at levels from around $2 to $3.
What Is ERN Used For?
ERN is used on the Ethernity Chain for trading NFTs, on-chain governance, liquidity mining, and staking.
ERN is most extensively used for DeFi services offered by the platform. You may use the token for LP staking, which on Ethernity involves providing liquidity to the ERN/ETH swap pool on Uniswap (UNI).
Fixed staking is another staking service on the platform. It involves locking ERN tokens for a period of time to earn additional rewards in ERN.
Satoshi Staking, yet another form, lets you earn ERN tokens by staking on the Ethernity Genesis: Satoshi NFT — the first one created on the platform as a tribute to Bitcoin’s mysterious founder, Satoshi Nakamoto.
Finally, you may use ERN to farm STONES, special assets that give you access to specific curated NFTs on the platform.
ERN Tokenomics
ERN’s maximum supply is specified at 30 million. The token’s total supply is 30 million, and its circulating supply is around 16 million. ERN has the following allocation shares:
