What Is SONM (SNM)?
SONM (SNM) is an Ethereum-based platform that facilitates decentralized trading of computing resources via fog computing. You may use the platform to access other users’ hardware resources, and to rent your own idle computing power to others by trading access to various hardware types on SONM — personal computers, servers, and even mining machines.
SONM’s functional model is different from that of traditional cloud-based computing power providers on the internet. Traditional providers run centralized servers themselves, renting out access to their resources over the World Wide Web (WWW). In contrast, SONM is based on a blockchain and simply acts as a decentralized marketplace that brings together users willing to trade access to computing resources.
SONM’s crypto token, SNM, facilitates resource trading on the platform. The token is used to pay for access to hardware resources. In turn, providers earn their crypto rewards in SNM for renting out their resources. SNM exists as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum (ETH), and as a BEP-20 token on BNB Chain (BNB).
